Slides: What Is A Great Heart?

Research shows that rigorous and inclusive instruction is critical for student growth. To bring rigor to instruction, it’s essential to incorporate learning opportunities aligned with content standards. For instance, these slides align with California's 4th-grade Reading Standards; one standard addressed is RI.4.2, which assesses students' ability to identify main ideas and key details in informational texts. To incorporate inclusive instructional opportunities, I referenced the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Guidelines. Correspondingly, I leveraged the “Expression & Communication” Guideline and provided multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning: through text, speech, or visuals. This approach increased accessibility and allowed learners to engage in meaningful, rigorous learning.
